Student Voice & Leadership

At Aitken Creek Primary School, we believe every student has the right to be heard, the capacity to lead, and the responsibility to take charge of their learning. Our programs empower students to actively contribute to their learning, the school community, and beyond.

Students provide and respond to feedback, set their own learning goals, track their progress, and select strategies and resources that help them succeed. They communicate confidently with peers and teachers, collaborate on decisions about teaching and learning, and engage in meaningful discussions that strengthen understanding and social connections.

Our Student Leaders play an active role across the school by hosting assemblies, contributing to school initiatives, and meeting weekly with the Principal and Student Leadership Coordinator to plan projects and make a positive difference in the school community. Leadership extends beyond formal roles — students also participate as Specialist Leaders, Digi Leaders, Performing Arts Leaders, Visual Arts Leaders and Physical Education Leaders.

Through these opportunities, students develop independence, self-reflection, resilience, and a growth mindset. They learn to set high expectations for themselves, take responsibility for their learning, and contribute ideas that shape school programs and policies. Students gain confidence, collaboration skills, and a strong sense of agency, becoming empowered to make meaningful contributions within the school and the wider community.

At ACPS, leadership begins with action, guided by our core values of Respect, Responsibility, Teamwork, and Achievement.
